Jacobite Risings in Song and Story in Hamilton, NJ!
Hamilton Township Free Public Library
1 Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. Way
Hamilton, NJ 08619
609-581-4060
One of my great musical and historical passions concerns the Scottish Jacobite Risings, and I am delighted to be invited to bring my hour-long first-person dramatic presentation to this great library (where I have performed many times over the years as part of "Tellebration")! "I will share the fate o' my Prince, and so shall every man over whom God and Nature has given me power!" Sit back and enjoy the Scottish Jacobite experience, which actually begins with the abdication of James II and the invasion of the Dutch Prince William of Orange in 1688, and hear the spirited songs which help to illustrate the period of the exiled Stuarts and the many attempts by the loyal Highlanders to help them regain their throne. After "The 45", life in the Highlands changed, and changed utterly— the landscape created by the government destruction on all things Highland is still visible to this very day. It is a story that has to be told, and I hope you can be there! Info: SChianese@HamiltonNJPL.org
